Alone

She's had her bath...

And two breakfasts (a bowl of cereal before her sister woke up and eggs and toast with Daddy and Gracie)

She's brushed her teeth:

Her lunch is packed:

Her bag is ready to be filled with artwork

She's had her morning hugs from Daddy

And posed for her obiligatory picture-by-the-window

And been loaded into her carseat for the one mile trip down the road

and unloaded from the same carseast for the short walk into the building

Her stuff is loaded into her cute little cubby

And when we left the room, she was sitting at the table, playing with a little stuffed elephant.  There were no tears when we walked out, but I sent Steve back in to check (from a vantage point where she couldn't see him) and she was crying.  I sent him because I would have just scooped her up and brought her back home with me.  Yes, my baby and my big girl, too are at pre-school and for the first time in I don't remember when, I am alone at home.  And to quote my husband, "It's not all it's cracked up to be!"
