A Season of Pretend Santas and Sick Sisters
Well, Abigail is still battling the stomach bug, and as of about 11:30 p.m. tonight, Gracie has joined her in the war. Right now, both my babies are passed out on the bed - Abigail is tired from five days of being sick and Gracie is just exhausted. My poor girls - the bright spot is that this stomach bug doesn't appear to make them feel badly except at night. During the day, they're bothing doing fine.
Today, we had our annual visit from the Fire Truck Santa. Abigail was amazed - I don't think Gracie was too impressed. This afternoon, as we were riding in the car, she asked me, "Mama? When I have breakfast with Santa next week, is he gonna be the real one or the pretend one?" I was a little confused until she explained further. "I know the Santa on the fire truck was just a pretend Santa 'cause he had a curly beard." I hadn't even noticed that his beard was curly (and decidedly fake-looking) until I looked at the pictures.

Really, I think I enjoy the Fire Truck Santa more than the girls - mostly because it reminds me of when I was a little girl and Santa came around my neighborhood on a fire truck!

While Steve was watching the Alabama/Florida game this afternoon (shhh! don't mention the winner - we're keeping quiet about it here
), the girls and I went to the mall and did a little shopping. We went into Belk's to pick up a dress for Abigail to match Ruby at Christmas. Well, I think I learned a very valuable lesson - don't take the girls into a clothes store. Abigail ran around, grabbing dresses and shirts and pajamas, squealing "I want dis! And dis! And dis!" and Gracie was close behind her picking out her favorites! Actually it was quite fun. I picked them both up new nightgowns. When we got home, Abigail walked in the house and told Steve, "Daddy! I tired. I need night nights (her word for PJs)!" Steve & I were both floored - she NEVER admits to being tired. Well, after about ten seconds it dawned on me - she was just loooking for an excuse to put her new nightgown on! Then, she sat on the bed and enjoyed the remains of her lemonade from Chick-Fil-A.

It was a good day - we're going to have to rearrange our plans for tomorrow - we were supposed to go to church and then to dinner and Bellingrath Gardens with friends, but we can't do either of those with a four-year-old with a stomach bug!
