Open Mike Night

We interrupt this normally chaotic and random blog to bring you......live updates from Cousin Camp Florida 2009!

Yep, it's that time of year when the number of girls increases by two in our house.  The laundry doubles but the laughter quadruples.  My exhaustion level goes through the roof but so does my joy!

It's been a full weekend around here.    On Saturday, we met my sister, brother-in-law and Ruby & Emmie out at my grandfather's farm.  Let's just say the go-cart got a good workout!

Then, Steve & I headed out to his 20th year high school reunion.  Gracie & Abigail spent the night with Aunt Bronie, Uncle Craig and their cousins.  I was a little sad when we drove away....this was the very first night I had ever spent away from Abigail.  I thought she might have a little trouble.  Ummm, yeah, right..  She stood on the porch, waved, and said, "Bye Mommy!  Bye Daddy!  Have Fun!  See you later!"  Steve & I had fun and I think it was really good for my mental health.  When we came home on Sunday, I was tired but felt energized and excited about being with all four girls for the week.  Steve had a good time, too, I think catching up with some of his friends from school.

On Sunday, after church and a yummy seafood lunch, my sister and brother-in-law headed back home and Cousin Camp started with a bang.  We spent the afternoon in the pool, playing Marco Polo.  I almost choked laughing while we were playing.  Whenever Gracie was it, she'd shout out "Marco!  Marco!"  but for some reason whenever she shouted she had to flail her arms around like a fish out of water.  Once I got out of the pool, Ruby, Emmie & Gracie played some kind of strange game where one of them was the groom, one was the bride and one was the preacher marrying the other two.  Then, after a few minutes they'd go, "Okay, we're divorced now" and then they'd switch roles.  Where do they come up with this stuff?  Here's Gracie pouting because she didn't get to be the bride when she wanted to be.

Then, we had dinner outside and played some more.

After I took these pictures, I went inside for a minute to get our evening craft ready.  About 30 seconds later, Abigail came running inside, completely naked and soaking wet.  Steve & I went outside to see what they were doing.  The had all stripped and were standing in the back of the yard jumping over the sprinkler, laughing hysterically.  I brought them in to get them in dry clothes...they all said that "it was Abigail's idea and she did it first!"  Okay, does anyone else find it scary that my 2-year-old is the ringleader of the group?  Yikes!

They all got dressed in their pajamas and then put on their own singing show.  The older girls were picking out songs like "Yes, Lord!" and "Awesome God" and a couple of tunes from the various High School Musicals...Abigail piped up after several numbers and said, "Hey! Let's sing ABCs!"  So, they did...

And, then, somehow, they conned Steve into singing a couple of songs for them using the pink microphone

Here they are watching him

They look pretty tired, don't they?  Well, they must have been.  Because within an hour of this picture, we'd finished our craft and they wer all four sacked out and three of them are still sleeping right now.  I think it was a fun first day of camp!
