I’ll have a purple {and pink} Christmas…
Oh, how the mighty have fallen!
Years and years ago, before I had children, I was a Christmas Tree purist. Which is to say that I swore that I would never, ever have any type of fake tree in my house. Fresh cut trees were it for me. And, if we got to cut it ourselves? Even better.
But, in 2006, Abigail was just a few weeks old when Christmas rolled around. I was still a little off kilter from her birth and my recovery and somehow, I let Steve con me into getting an artificial (read, fake!) tree. It’s actually a cute little tree, nice and compact and perfect for our house. And, I’ll admit that it is a lot less work than a cut tree. And since Steve is somehow the one who ends up taking care of things that need daily watering (like the plants, and the yard, and the dog), he was the one who always had to take care of the cut trees. And I love Steve, so anything that makes his life easier is certainly okay with me. But, I never would have called myself an “artificial tree” lover and I certainly never would have gone out and bought one myself.
Until this year….
Earlier this spring, we painted the girls’ room Pepto Bismal pink and Grape Nehi purple. They have an adorable dollhouse loft bed and a bunch of pink and purple accessories, including a bright pink couch.
So, when we walked into Wal-Mart early in November and saw a little purple Christmas tree, I just couldn’t help myself. I kept thinking about how cute it would look in their bedroom. And, so, two weeks later, it came home with us. And, it’s perfect in their room. They are over the moon about it.
And in four short years, I’ve gone from someone who would never have a fake Christmas tree to someone who bought not only a fake one, but a fake PURPLE one. What’s next?
