Crazy Days
It’s been a crazy week. Stress has been my best friend. Put it this way: yesterday my car broke down in the middle of the road, waiting in car line to pick up Gracie and two of her friends. And, after a moment of panic, I wasn’t really stressed about it at all because I was so done with being stressed that I wasn’t going to let anything get to me.
Thursday was probably the craziest of the days. My friend Lara and I are decorating a table for The Tour of Tables at our church and I think we’ve put some undue pressure on ourselves because of our theme. (I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow when I can show pictures of the table). And, we’re on the tail end of out Girl Scout Cookie Sales. Lara is doing the bulk of the work for that, but just the whole “what are we going to do with leftover cookies? Can we get extras to this person and that person?” is a bit overwhelming. And, we had a Girl Scout service unit meeting Thursday night and an Easter Egg hunt planning meeting for church. I think Lara was probably as stressed as I was this week. We decided to divide and conquer the meetings since there was no way both of us could be at both of them. I got the easier meeting – the one for the Easter Egg hunt. It was shorter and closer by. Still, by the time I got home, I was spent from the day and the days leading up to it. So, what did I do? I stayed up until midnight. Sewing. I was finishing up some projects for our table. I thought it was going to be a real chore. But when I finished, I realized I felt good. Really good. It felt amazing to finish a project. I need to remember that…sometimes the things I put off because I think they’re going to drive me crazy are actually the things I enjoy.
I know I’m rambling…I’m tired
. So, I’ll leave you with a little peek at my sewing projects (I made a table runner and napkins from curtain panels) and a couple of things from our table. I’ll be back to show you the finished table sometime soon.
